Canadian Hydro produces Green Power or renewable energy via wind,
hydro (falling water) or biomass (burning plant materials and waste)
projects. Green Power results in minimal harm to the environment,
as the process uses resources that regenerate naturally. Also, Green
Power produces minimal air pollution and emissions.
Right now, approximately 98 per cent of Alberta’s energy comes
from traditional methods—coal, natural gas and hydro power
plants. The remaining two per cent represents alternative
sources—wind, run-of-river hydro and biomass.
Renewable energy represents a very small percentage, but by working
together, we can create a sustainable future where Green Power is
the leading source of electricity.
